Christmas Hampers 2022

Once again, Immanuel’s parishioners gave an all-out effort to bring Christmas cheer to 18 families, including 41 children and 33 adults. 10 families belong to the Young Parent Program at Balfour Collegiate, 6 families are part of the Sask. Deaf and Hard of Hearing Society, and 2 private hampers were made. Over 6 weeks, more than 1,000 items of food, toiletries, knitting, gifts, diapers and baby products were donated. Each hamper family provided gift suggestions for their children so that parishioners could “adopt” a child to make the wish come true. Our knitters worked for months to make baby items, toques, scarves and mitts for everyone. London Drugs gave us a generous discount on baby products for the families in the Young Parent Program and Save-On Foods met our need for apple boxes with grace. Cynthia Johnson donated a truckload of boxes, candy, toys and clothing. The church was a-buzz with excitement as we packed and delivered the hampers on Dec. 21, a -30C day with a -40 windchill.

Thanks to each one of you who donated money, prayed, bought food and toiletries, knitted, found just the right gift for each child, wrote Christmas cards, wrapped boxes, packed, and delivered. Gratitude to our treasurer Pat Hall and to the committee: Maureen Pardoe, Kim Smith, Donna Miller, Pat Kolhi and Margi Hollingshead for countless hours of work and organization. It truly is a team effort to share God’s love with those who need the reminder of hope, joy and peace.
