The Children’s Garden at Immanuel continued to grow throughout the summer, carefully tended by a pre-school group on Tuesday mornings, and an elementary school group on Wednesdays.Â
Careful watering Everyone loved the carrots!
Who knew Lettuce tasted so good!Â
We planted zucchini, tomatoes, potatoes, cantaloupe, squash, carrots, beans, sunflowers, swiss chard, lettuce, spinach, eggplant, cucumbers, and marigolds
The children took home a lot of the
produce that could be easily used like carrots, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers,
and zucchini. We donated a lot to
families we knew that could use the produce as well as to community outreach
programs. We used some potatoes and
squash to make Three Sisters Soup on Orange Shirt Day, and whatever was leftover
we used to decorate for Harvest Thanksgiving.
The garden is now cleaned up for the winter
– but we’re already looking forward to next year!
